

A prayer service will be conducted at 6:30pm in the funeral home. Visiting will be on Saturday from 2-6:30 pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick.

Rich will be missed every day by many and is definitely the life of the party in heaven. He is also survived by his brothers, Steven Cortese and his wife, Catherine and their children, Alexandra and Nicolette of Staten Island and Anthony Cortese and his children who live in upstate New York as well as being much loved by his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews from the Scheidt family. Most of all, he adored his daughters, Olivia and Rachel both of Brick as well as his wife of 25 years, Denise (Scheidt) Cortese. He had a nickname for everyone and was the king of laughter. He looked forward to all his nieces and nephews stopping by the house to catch up and was always telling crazy stories to his kids and their friends. Rich loved being on the ocean or enjoying time in the mountains with his life-long friends. Cortese was Boat Captain for Local 25 Marine Division at Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Corporation in Oak Brook, IL. Cortese, 48, of Brick passed away on Sunday, Octoin Philadelphia, PA.
